GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA

The Kennedy’s (almost everyone) relocated to Greenville, South Carolina for Thanksgiving this year. This was the first year doing so and it was nice to mix it up. South Carolina is a stunning place and much warmer than the Midwest — go figure!
My Uncle Bruce, the youngest Kennedy brother, purchased a vacation home at the Cliffs Resort in Salem, but decided to move there full time about a year ago. He loves the warmer weather, his boat is nearby at the beautiful Lake Keowee, and, of course, the endless golf courses to be played. It is quite the rough life!
We were able to rent a house a couple of houses down from Uncle Bruce’s so we all could be SUPER close together and not worry about driving in the woods. It was nice enough to be outside most of the time snuggled up by a fire pit. We took long walks around the golf course — letting Beatrix run up and down the putting green, a miniature golf tourney, lots of card games, enough wine for all and, of course, watching and playing with Elianna at all moments of the day. Julie’s boyfriend, Tim, was brave enough to join and quickly fit right in with our Kennedy family antics.
Bruce took a handful of us out on his boat while my parents and Julie drank on the dock. It was a beautiful afternoon at the end of November.
The cousins, Jay & Cathy, and Grandma Patsy ventured over to a local brewery for something to do before dinner. It was nice having some local beer while hanging by the outdoor fire.
It just so happened, the little one was celebrating her second birthday a few days prior. Did she think Beatrix was her gift? MAYBE.
On our last day, we decided to venture into the town of Greenville for lunch and a little exploration before our flights. A cute town in the fall with beautiful leaves? Perfection. Something we took advantage of before heading back to freezing cold Chicago. After B got damp we quickly came to terms with the fact that she desperately needed a grooming session.
Beatrix and Elianna started off a bit unsure of each other, but by the end of the trip, they quickly turned into same size best friends. Separating them not easy, but saying goodbye to family never is. We feel very feel very fortunate to be a part of a family that enjoys spending time with each other and is willing to travel distances to get together. We were raised all together in close proximity in Indianapolis so we are blessed to have a close family. I would not trade them in for anything in the world. Thanks so much for hosting us Uncle Bruce. The next time we will be together will be in August when the Kennedy’s take on Eaton’s Ranch in Sheridan, Wyoming!
