VAIL/BEAVER CREEK

VAIL/BEAVER CREEK

Our next adventure takes us skiing and snowboarding for the first time in a decade…

This past weekend we were fortunate enough to have a family ski & snowboarding weekend in Colorado with Smoke, Anitra, Sierra, and Forrest (Forrest seemed right at home in the woods lifestyle…hehe). We missed Skye and Talli dearly, but enjoyed the time we had to get away from the city and stresses at work for a long weekend. We flew into Denver, grabbed a bite to eat a at Shake Shack, and headed up to the mountains. We rented an awesome house outside of Breckenridge equipped with beautiful vistas, heated floors, and most importantly, a hot tub. Can I get a hot tub?

Our plan was to ski Breck, but the power went out in the entire county and both Keystone/Breck were closed. So, we headed over to Vail for the day. They were nice enough to honor our passes and Forrest’s ski lesson due to the power outage. Here are some pics of us looking like “experts” already.

After a few hours up on the mountain we decided we had enough so we walked around the cute village of Vail. We grabbed a couple of drinks and some much needed food while gazing at all that Vail has to offer.

On the second day, we decided to head over and ski at Beaver Creek since our passes worked anywhere. It was interesting seeing the different vibes at each village on back to back days. Vail’s village was larger, people seemed bougie-er, and we loved the cute Dutch bakery, Alpenrose, shown above. Beaver Creek was equally as nice, the people seemed more laid back, and the Apres-Ski scene was a good time. We preferred the village of Vail, but enjoyed the slopes at Beaver Creek better.

This was Forrests first time skiing, yes, ever. However, after a 3-hour lesson on the first day, he nailed it. Once we were ready to stop on the second day to get a drink, he went up the mountain two more times.

On Sunday, we took some photos around the house because it is just so beautiful!

On our way down the mountain we pulled off at a scenic vista overlooking the town at Silver Plume, which was an old mining town. The views were breathtaking and cemented a fantastic trip.

We got back down to Denver with enough time for one last family meal at Cherry Cricket before heading off to the airport. We got the chance to meet up with a good friend of ours, Jen, who happened to be in Colorado this weekend because she is moving there this summer.

Here is a montage of Sierra’s discovery of her future modeling career. She’s so pretty! Forrest, you’re pretty, too. All in all, this was an awesome trip and we are still sore a week later. Until next time, G&C.
